DOA5 (PC) has no Online lobbies and still using the old graphics engine compared to the PS4/Xbone versions. If you are looking for a more active online and a more stable Netcode, go with DOA6. If you are looking for content overall, go with DOA5. I like both and play both casually every now and then. Or if you mean the fatal rush, the scaling makes it a waste of your meter to finish it and the S isn't safe on block. You have to be careful about throwing out the break blow because you can't escape fatal stun or use SSA if you burn all your meter. You'll unlock pretty much everything you want just playing normally. The system's been drastically changed since release with the earn rate like 10 times as fast and priority given to costumes for the character you're actually using. But 5LR is superior in every imaginable way for me. I know it sounds like I’m shitting on 6, I don’t think it’s a terrible game. You just end up spamming that same move over and over unless you make a conscious effort not to, and it ruins the skill and fun involved in a fighting game if you ask me. I also don’t like the stupid super move mechanic in 6 either. The chance to unlock seems ridiculously low and I’ve barely unlocked anything in 6. In 6 it’s just pot luck as to whether you get points that even go toward unlocking the outfit you want.

At least in 5 you know you’ll get the outfit you want after doing arcade/time trial or whatever so many times with your character. Lighting seems better in 5 as well.Īlso, the way you unlock stuff in 6 is completely fucked. Textures are really low res too and the stages and backgrounds in 6 are so criminally uninspired compared to 5. At least on PlayStation, the anti aliasing on 6 is absolutely terrible. In terms of graphics, I actually think graphics look better on 5, bizarre as it sounds. Technically Mai is also in DoA5 LR but you can no longer buy her (she was DLC character).ĭead or Alive 5 last round every day of the week. If you are fan of King of Fighters go with DoA6 because it has Mai Shiranui and Kula as guests (as DLCs). If you are fan of Virtua Fighter go with DoA5 LR because VF characters are there as guests. This game is no longer supported so there won't be updated rerelase so these character will remain as DLC only. If you will choose DoA6 be prepared that 7 characters are available as DLC so to have complete roster you will have to buy them. But if you simply want to have fun, good graphics and don't care that gameplay is a bit dumbed down go with DoA6. If you want better gameplay mechanics, more content and don't care about graphics go with DoA5 LR. Despite that I have fun playing both games and your decision depends on what do you want. From what I've seen there are still people playing both games online (PS4 version). Overall DoA6 feels rushed and unfinished. Combat feels more easy compared to DoA5 LR. DoA6 has amazing graphics but a lot of assets looks like they were directly copied from DoA5 LR.
There is more content and combat feels more satisfying. Fortunately both games were discounted in my local gameshop so I picked both.ĭoA5 LR is overall superior game.
